In theory you could point your host to an NTP server and then use the time option to sync your PDC to the host. VMware employs "Smart" clock cyclycingto graduallycatch the clock up or set it back. Transactional applications that are highly sensitive and don't like the clock being set backwards, think banking applications. VMwarewill micro set the clock by artificiallyadding or removing clock cycles until the time is synced up.Why not just transfer the PDC role to your physical server to eliminate time drift as a possibility?
All decent NTP software should do that as it's part of the NTP RFC.
Time drift will occur on phyiscal servers as well. The CMOS is not at all accurate at keeping time so the best practice is NTP pointing to several different NTP servers.
